COVID-19 Mexico and Central America Campaign Update

NCALM Considers Options for Campaign

The National Center for Airborne Laser Mapping is still on standby for the 2020 Mexico and Central America Lidar Collection Campaign due to travel restrictions. We also recognize that the rainy season has begun. We will continue to delay the campaign until we obtain satisfactory health and mapping conditions and government authorizations.

NCALM is considering a postponement until Spring 2021 as a viable option. We may develop a short campaign in November 2020, early in the dry season, for those with time-critical projects. However, the main decision factor will be the health and safety of the people in the regions we visit and our crew. Assessing the risk for the mapping crew includes contracting and spreading COVID-19 and the risk of an accident or illness requiring healthcare assistance in a possibly overwhelmed system.

We appreciate your patience and will keep you informed as information becomes available.
